Granite Sealing

Protect Your Granite Surface by Having it Sealed by the Professionals

The best way to maximize the durability of your granite surface is to have it sealed. Doing so can help it look gorgeous and stain-free for years to come. However, if you seal it yourself with common products you can find at the hardware store, you actually run the risk of ruining your granite. Let Fuller Travertine Cleaning provide you with the professional-grade sealing you need.

We Use Only the Highest-Quality Commercial-Grade Sealants

Yes, you can find sealants elsewhere but they are not the quality you will get when you work with Fuller Travertine Cleaning. Many of the DIY products you find at local hardware stores have strong, terrible smells that stick around for months, others have VOCs that have been shown to create unhealthy air quality. In most cases, the sealants you find at local hardware stores are topical – not penetrating. As a result, they only sit on top of the surface – they do not penetrate deep down for full protection.

Discover the Two Main Benefits of Granite Sealing

When you seal granite, you get two main benefits:

Protection. Granite may be a solid, durable material but it is easier for water or acids to damage it than you may think. Sealing it reduces the porosity of the stone by filling the pores with the sealer and helps to coat the exposed minerals. The result? Slower penetration time for liquids and less of a chance of staining.

Beauty. No matter what type of sealant you use, it is likely that it will make your granite look more beautiful. This is because all sealants shrink granite’s pores – which reduces the chance of dirt being trapped. We generally recommend a clear penetrating sealant for granite. This does not change the color or the finish so that the natural beauty can shine through.

Is it time to Reseal Your Granite Surface?

Sealing your granite is not a one-and-done process – it must be resealed as time goes on. If you are not sure if yet needs to be resealed, drop a small drop of water on an out of the way area. Let it sit for ten minutes, then go back and blot it dry. Is the stone dark where the water was? If so, the water has been absorbed. This is fine if the stone goes back to its color within a minute or three, but if it does not then it is time for resealing.
